Take Me to the Moon 4.4: Come and Get Your Love

Previous Chapter / Next Chapter
Narrated by Delaney Tesla

(Come and Get Your Love is a song by Redbone)

One night after we'd been working on the rocket together, and looking at the stars, Alexander got this intense look in his eye, and said, "Let's make a baby."

We had lots of fun trying for the next few weeks...

And even made use of the rocket

Within the month, I was feeling sick in the mornings.

After I nearly threw up the first time, I went and tried the pregnancy test I'd been saving.

As soon as I was sure, and had told Alexander, I called Aunt Cacey. I couldn't even wait for her to get to the house, and I ran out to meet her.

She was really happy for us,

and we decided to go on our morning jog together to have more time to chat.  I was glad to talk with her, because even though Ryleigh will listen, she didn't really want to talk about babies yet; I think Ryleigh's worried she'll get baby fever and not get that big VP promotion she wants.  It's the first time Ryleigh and I have ever not been able to talk about something, and it bothers me.

On the weekends, we still kept the boys sometimes.  Dennis came over by himself one weekend.  Cacey said as a middle child, she felt he needed some special attention.   Alexander gave him lots of one-on-one time.

I'm usually really mellow about the messes the boys make, but I felt all bent out of shape just over a simple puddle on the patio.  Alexander tried to calm me down.

I do worry what it will be like for our relationship after kids.  We've been married a little more than five years, and still have lots of passion.  I don't want to lose that.

I might have to give away my plants, too.  I'm not sure I can keep up with my  marriage, my career, kids, and the plants.

But maybe all these worries are just because I've never been so tired before!  As an astronaut, I've had to keep in tip-top shape, and always had tons of energy.  As much as I wanted a child, I have to admit, losing control of my own body has been tough.  I'm ready for this baby to be born!

But once Ewan was here, I couldn't imagine how we waited so long to have him!  He's a handful, but I never knew I could love someone else the way I love him.

And Alexander's still his same, zany, attentive self.  Soon after we came home from the hospital, he came in the room and told me he needed to take over caring for Ewan now because it was the Zombie Apocalypse.

I told him, "What, are you insane?!  In the Zombie Apocalypse you think I'm going to let this baby out of my sight!?"

That day the whole family came to cook and spend time with us, and Ewan.  Ryleigh was such a huge help, cleaning up after everybody's dishes and helping keep an eye on the boys.  She and I didn't get any time together, but she was so helpful, and I know she's busy with work and it wasn't easy for her to give up the time.

Darryl was  more interested in checking in on the ladybugs than his new second cousin, at first.

He didn't seem to know what to say to Ewan.

I showed them how to hold him, and talk to him.

He seemed to get the hang of it after a while, though.

But when Cacey came and held Ewan, he and Dashle were a little concerned.

I was getting all the baby advice I could from Aunt Cacey,

When Bella, my mother-in-law, arrived.  Mortimer was not well, and not able to get out of bed, so he didn't come.

Bella was pretty enamored with Ewan right away. She's been wanting a grandchild for a while.

Meanwhile, Alexander found the boys in his office.  Darryl was telling Dennis not to tell about something, and Dashle wouldn't say, either, what it was.

We all ate, and enjoyed being together.  It was nice to have help with the cooking, cleaning, and looking after Ewan, for a while.  Alexander is going to be happy when there are fewer people in the house again, I think.

But I'm so thankful for our family!

Notes:

Mortimer got "dangerously tired" from Woohoo Weekend.  Elders can die if they don't rest with that moodlet, so I didn't invite him to the baby welcoming party.

I love this one-- she's thinking about his valentine boxers!

Delaney had wanted to try for baby for a while, since the last post's play sessions (it was pinned)

and Alexander finally got the whim to try for baby while looking at stars with Delaney.

The passion continued throughout the pregnancy!

Delaney couldn't use the rocket in her second or third trimesters, but she still wore the space cadet suit to work, ha!  So ridiculous!

  1. She's adorable with her big belly bump! I love the name Ewan! It was always on my boys list, just stopped having sons. I wonder if Cacey is going to have more, I do wish there was a toddler stage! These two are really sweet together, and seem to be handling parenting well. I'm totally humored by Mortimer's moodlet and the fact that it could kill him! lol. I hope that Ryleigh has a baby soon, it's sad that they aren't enjoying this baby phase together, maybe the next time Delaney has a baby she will be ready.

    1. Ewan was top of my list for the "E" generation, for a boy! I thought about Cacey having more but she hasn't had the whim and she is close to 50, or even at 50 by now! (Being a legacy I don't specifically keep ages).

Ryleigh, with her perfectionism and neatness and absorption with her job, has drifted apart from Delaney some, lately. It will be interesting to see what happens when and if she and Dante have kids. It's so much fun to hear your perspective, Maisie!

  2. Next generation! Woot! I love the name Ewan too!

I don't follow Woohoo Weekend -- is that a Sims 4 thing? Or did you switch to his household and help him and Bella have lots of woohoo?

I hope everything's OK with Ryleigh....

    1. Woot! Woohoo Weekend was a Sims 4 promotion dreamed up by the sims gurus for Valentine's Weekend. They said on average, sims 4 sims woohoo worldwide, about a million times a day. So for Valentine's weekend, they said if sims hit 5 million, they'd release a new gnome and a couple hairstyles. It was a way to promote checking the box in game options to share your data, but I thought it was a blast to be involved in a world-wide simmer event like that. Simmers at The Sims Daily were having fun with it, and there was a lot on Tumblr. I played it by whims, and to see which household, including ones i don't usually play, would get the most woohoos. Delaney and Alexander did the most, 18 woohoos, and had Ewan. Bob & Eliza Pancakes were the unsuspected runners' up, with 17, and they also had 3 kids in the process! Since there's no story progression, and I wanted them to procreate, this worked out well. Ryleigh just didn't even talk to Delaney while she was pregnant. It seems like it is hard to get them together anyway, with Ryleigh's work schedule. Thanks for commenting!

    2. Woohoo weekend sounds like it was a ton of fun! I love social stuff like that.

Did those sims really have 17 and 18 whims to woohoo? Over how much time? If the Pancakes had 3 kids, it must have been quite a bit of time.

  3. I must have played the Pancakes for close to a game-week. They rolled the whim for try for baby the first day, I think. and they had twins for the #2 & #3 babies. And when they get in a flirty mood it is really easy for them to roll whims for Woohoo, just like in Sims 2 when they'd go on dates and eventually roll Make Out and Woohoo wants if you kept going. All they have to do to get in a flirty mood, is start flirting, so it wasn't very difficult. I played Delaney and Alexander for about 2 days before they rolled the want to try for baby, during which time they didn't do much but be flirty (it was the weekend, fortunately!) and the whole pregnancy, they were quite flirty.

  4. I love Delaney's response to The Zombie Apocalypse, and the fact that Alexander's first conversation post-birth was about the Zombie Apocalypse!

And I also really like how Darryl, Dennis, and Dashle were talking about something....?

    1. Coralie, thanks, I'm glad you liked it! Alexander *is* a geek :-) So that makes for some funny conversation topics. And Delaney loves to go with him on those topics, too. (At least in my head).
